Goldthorpe Scout & Guide Supporters Group Annual General Meeting Tuesday 16th September 2014 19:00

Help shape the future of the Goldthorpe Scout & Guide Headquarters
The Goldthorpe Scout & Guide Supporters Group consists of members with an interest in the operation, maintenance and running of the site and building where the Scouts and Guides run their weekly meetings.

The group will be holding its 2014 annual general meeting and you can have a say in how the building is operated in the future.  If you are a parent or supporter of either the Scout or Guide groups (or both!) then this is your opportunity to get involved and help shape how the building and the site upon which it stands is being used.

We need you to offer your ideas and support to help maintain a safe, clean, dry and warm accommodation for the youth groups that use this as their HQ.

You can just turn up on the night and get involved, and yes, we really do need your support, so please come along, you never know you might just enjoy it!

For those supporters who want to really lead the way, there are nominations for the supporter's group committee being advertised now, for a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, these roles are open to anyone who is not a uniformed member of either the Scout or Guide Associations.  Enquiries to Ed, in the first instance on 07778 000934.

Cubs Visit Goldthorpe Library

Last week the cubs paid a visit to the local library in Goldthorpe as part of their  Book Reader Activity Badge They had a great time as they learnt about the difference between Fiction and Non-Fiction. They discovered where to look in the library for a dictionary and how to use a thesaurus. They found out how the library catalogues their books so that you can find them easily and how you should care for your books so that they last a lifetime. The next stage in this badge is for the cubs to read 6 books. They should be able to name the authors and be able to tell the other cubs about the books they have read. Thanks very much to the staff at the library for showing our cubs the ropes!
