Goldthorpe Scouts is awarded 2 micro grants through Coalfields Regeneration Trust

Goldthorpe Scout Group, were awarded 2 micro grants to fund baking, camping and climbing equipment. These contributions were gratefully received as we march into our 2016 programme. Congratulations to all the successful community groups who joined us today.

Since re-opening its doors in December 2013, Goldthorpe Scout Group has successfully established a Beaver Scout Colony and a Cub Scout Pack, offering fun, friendship and adventure for 30 young people aged between 6 and 10 years from across the Dearne Valley. In less than 12 months time a new Scout Troop will be opened for boys and girls aged between 11 and 14 years. First Aid Staged Activity Badge - Level 1 A six-year-old girl from Farnborough saved her mum’s life only a day after learning first aid skills at her Beavers meeting. Sophie Shute had only been awarded her first aid badge at 14th Aldershot Beavers the evening before her mum, Andrea Shute, 37, fainted and was unable to move or speak. Beaver Scouts are our youngest members, aged between 6 and 8 years. They meet weekly to take part in a wide range of activities including games, crafts, singing, visits and good turns, along with plenty of outdoor activities. They will also have the opportunity to take part in the fund and excitement of their first sleepovers in tents. This may be the first time they spend the night away from home so it's a real adventure for them. If you know a boy or girl aged between 6 and 8 years that lives in or around Goldthorpe, Barnsley, why not let them experience being a Beaver Scout! Applications for our brand new beaver colony are now being accepted, but we will only be recruiting 12 new members initially, so you need to act fast!
