The 6th Barnsley (Goldthorpe) Scout Group will be holding its annual general meeting on Tuesday 14th July 2015 at 19:30 in the Scout & Guide Headquarters, Lockwood Road, Goldthorpe. The agenda is as follows;

1. Introduction from the Chair of the meeting (Group Chairman)

Housekeeping arrangements.

2. Apologies for absence. (Secretary)

3. Receive and adopt the Annual Report for the previous financial year (just ended). (Group Scout Leader)

4. Receive and adopt the Financial Statements for the previous financial year (just ended). (Group Treasurer)

5. Receive and adopt the Group’s Constitution. (Group Chairman)

Elections and appointments

6. Appoint or elect key appointments in the Group Scout Council (Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer).

7. Elect and/or co-opt members to the Executive Committee.

8. Vote of thanks.

9. Close of official AGM.

Presentation - Review of Scouting in Goldthorpe since 2013 - (Group Scout Leader)

All members, supporters, parents and youth members are welcome to attend, and the official proceedings will take no longer than 45 minutes. If you are interested in taking up a role as a Scout Leader or supporter you can speak to any of the leadership team following the AGM.

Since re-opening its doors in December 2013, Goldthorpe Scout Group has successfully established a Beaver Scout Colony and a Cub Scout Pack, offering fun, friendship and adventure for 30 young people aged between 6 and 10 years from across the Dearne Valley. In less than 12 months time a new Scout Troop will be opened for boys and girls aged between 11 and 14 years. Goldthorpe Scouts story is in this week's Dearne Valley Weekender This week's Dearne Valley Weekender has run a story based on the following press release about our fantastic growth in Beavers and Cubs. The full story, and the rest of the paper can be read online. 6 th Barnsley (Goldthorpe) Scout Group has achieved its ambition of bringing Scouting back to Goldthorpe since re-opening the group on December 3 rd 2013, after opening 2 sections, for boys and girls: Beavers ; aged between 6 and 8 years & Cubs ; aged between 8 and 10 ½ years. After a successful recruitment campaign, via school visits, leaflet drops and through the internet, the Scout Group has recruited 38 youth members, with 26 on the waiting to join list. Goldthorpe Scout Section invests 10 new Scouts into its brand new Scout section

Goldthorpe's Scout Section It was with great pride that 10 new Scouts were officially invested into the Scout Section of the 6th Barnsley (Goldthorpe) Scout Group today. Just over 18 months ago, there was no Scout Group, and there had been no Scouts in Goldthorpe for over 12 years. Today marks a watershed moment, as 10 new Scouts were invested into a group alongside 21 Beaver Scouts and 26 Cub Scouts, with several on a waiting list to join and new enquiries all the time. The group is in great shape due to the persistence and determination of the parents who have all stepped up to play a role in supporting the group. In particular, thanks has to be made to our Assistant Group Scout Leader, Breeze (Andrea), who has worked across all 3 sections and kept me going in truly challenging times.
