Goldthorpe Cubs, enjoyed a 2 night camp at Silverwood this weekend, on a sixer and seconder experience.

It gave the group a chance to try out some new sixers, seconders, and some new camping equipment.

The cubs completed a 10K hike on Saturday and enjoyed exploring the countryside around Silverwood.

Cubs Visit Goldthorpe Library

Last week the cubs paid a visit to the local library in Goldthorpe as part of their Book Reader Activity Badge They had a great time as they learnt about the difference between Fiction and Non-Fiction. They discovered where to look in the library for a dictionary and how to use a thesaurus. They found out how the library catalogues their books so that you can find them easily and how you should care for your books so that they last a lifetime. The next stage in this badge is for the cubs to read 6 books. They should be able to name the authors and be able to tell the other cubs about the books they have read. Thanks very much to the staff at the library for showing our cubs the ropes!

Aged 18 or over, living in the Dearne Valley: Are you ready to join the adventure with Goldthorpe Scouts?

Since re-opening its doors in December 2013, Goldthorpe Scout Group has successfully established a Beaver Scout Colony and a Cub Scout Pack, offering fun, friendship and adventure for 30 young people aged between 6 and 10 years from across the Dearne Valley. In less than 12 months time a new Scout Troop will be opened for boys and girls aged between 11 and 14 years.
